The Head of the Works Department is the Town Engineer, who is assisted by the Chief Inspector of Works.

With a labour force of 228 employees of different grades this Department is responsible among others, for the

1. Care and maintenance of roads, drains, street lighting.
2. Care and maintenance of all Municipal Gardens.
3. Care and maintenance of Municipal buildings, including Market, Fairs, Sport Grounds, Social Halls.
