Headed by the Chief Health Inspector and assisted by 3 Principal Health Inspectors, 4 Senior Health Inspectors, a staff of 19 Health Inspectors, 9 Assistant Health Inspectors and with around 340 employees, the department is responsible for:

1. Control, care and management of markets and fairs.
2. Processing of applications for Trade Licences
3. Control of hawkers.
4. Providing an efficient refuse collection service.
5. Inspection for commercial/private premises, detection and abatement of nuisances.
6. Survey of advertisement/collection of appropriate fees.
