The current Mayor of the Council of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill is Mr. Ramalingum Maistry

The term of office, as stipulated by laws, for the Mayors is of one year’s duration but this does not preclude them from being reelected.

The Mayor is considered as the first citizen of his urban area.

One of the main functions of the Mayor is presiding at meetings of the whole Council. He must ensure that proceedings are conducted in an orderly manner and in accordance with the Council’s standing orders.

The Mayor has a casting vote.

The Mayor is empowered to enforce provisions of law.

The Mayor is also empowered to sign all deeds and contracts of this council.

The Deputy Mayor

The Deputy Mayor is Mr. Mario Serge Bac. In the absence of the Mayor, his deputy has the same right and privileges.
