Rose Hill Market

Erected in the early 1930's and partly reconstructed in 1954, the Rose Hill Market is the largest in the country after the historical Central Market of Port Louis.

Such food items as meat, fish, chicken, pork, vegetables and spices, let alone herbal medicines, are exposed for sale at its 287 stalls.

The Vegetable Section is divided into 196 stalls destined for the sale of vegetables. The other stalls are for spices, dry beans, vannerie, medicinal herbs, fruits, sweets, tobacco, flowers, bread, snack, tea and cakes.

At the Meat Section, there are 28 stalls for the sale of beef. At a separate section pork is sold. There are as well 14 stalls for fish and 14 other stalls for goat and mutton.

A separate space of eight stalls is devoted for the sale of chicken.
